A project on vegetable waste in North California. A tremendous amounts of valuables resources are wasted. Meanwhile the food rotting in landfills is one of the biggest contributors of methane emissions, a greenhouse gas that’s at least 25 times more powerful in global warming than carbon dioxide.

While the issues of food waste are vast and complex, thankfully there are an array of non-profits, government agencies, businesses and entrepreneurs working to address those issues, many of which are right here in California.
